Yarn fun

I'm so excited to post that I will finally be selling handpainted yarn again! It has been years but thanks to my trusty dyeing journals I quickly remembered the techniques I had used to get the results I wanted.

One of the reasons I have returned to dyeing is that I have finally sourced a couple of yarns which I feel comfortable endorsing for baby knits.

The first I have called "Softly" it is a 100% organic NZ merino wool with biogro certification. I dye this yarn with acid dyes (there are no organic acid dyes - interesting conversation on the subject here) to obtain bright, colourfast shades.
Softly is a sport to light DK yarn yielding 183 yds / 167m to 50g and can be knitted on 3.25 to 4mm needles with no loss of structure.
Hand wash only.

This is the yarn I used to design the Evie top, and I recommend it for my Garter st plain and simple garments as well.

The second yarn I currently have available is "Biba" this is a 60% merino/ 20% silk/ 20% bamboo blend sport weight. Biba has a beautiful sheen and the bamboo softens the uptake of the colours giving a pastel effect. Biba is the yarn I used when designing the Garter st plain and simple series and is perfect for babies. I am dyeing Biba in 100g lots only as this is more useful when knitting clothes for bubs.
Recommended needle size 3.25 - 3.75 mm (3 - 5 US)
364 yd / 333m per 100g skein.
Hand wash only.

My worsted yarn "Full" is a good solid NZ wool yarn, hardwearing, bouncy and machine washable, perfect for children's outer wear.

Recommended needle Size: 4.5 - 5mm

Tension: 18sts x 26 rows per 10cm/4”

96 yd/ 88m per 50g skein.
