2012 Resolved

Last New Year I was full of ideas and plans for 2012, I went overboard on the emotion and desire for change, and got caught up in loads of events which were meant to make my life somehow more "meaningful" but just ended up creating more busyness.

This New Year I have no resolutions, I have a sense of ennui just thinking about them, my life has already changed very much for the better due to a series of unfortunate events in 2012 which led me exactly to the place I wanted to be, life is funny like that.

2013 is already a magical world for me, I already have some lovely wee grandchildren thanks to my husband's children, but in 2013 two babies are going to be born who will rock my maternal family's world, in the next couple of weeks my middle daughter Charlotte's baby daughter will arrive ( I love how the word "arrive" makes the birth process sound so easy, as if she will float into the world on a swathe of pink tulle surrounded by butterflies!) and we will be 5 generations of women, an unbroken line, the family photo op of a lifetime, and then in May my eldest daughter is due, and another round of photos for these two, our first generation of New Zealand born babies with New Zealand born parents. I'm already busy with props and plans for the photos I am imagining.

In 2012 I launched my printed patterns, created a new user friendly website and started working fulltime on designing, my first wee trunk show is in progress in Holland Rd yarns and will move throughout the country, and I have a dream assignment in progress. I know that in  2013 this is just going to get better, with a book on the go and a lot more designs.

I hope that you too can see off 2012 with a fond farewell and welcome all that 2013 has to offer, Happy New Year everybody!

A happy new year to you, Jussi, and thank you for your generosity in sharing your lovely patterns. I have gifted garments from them to several babies.

Enjoy the new grandchildren. I can hardly believe my youngest grandchild is now seven.

I don't make resolutions either, but will be glad to see the end of 2012. In fact the last two years are better behind me. Like you, 2012 has brought one family member to a much better place than he had been in, but it has been very hard getting there.

I'm so happy to read this post .. I remember you talking about your hope for a 5 generation photograph of a lifetime and I know all 5 generations will cherish it. I can't beleive your girls are becoming mums though .. although I love that it is so.

Happy New Year Justine,

It's so wonderful hearing lovely news when there is so much doom and gloom about. We loved having you at Lopdell House Gallery Make & Cake teaching people how to knit. I do hope that you'll be coming along for another workshop again this year. Knitting has taken off in a big way and it's wonderful being a part of the growth of it.

Enjoy your new grandchildren when they come. How lovely for you.
